A student jumped from the fifth floor of MAKAUT University on Monday. The authorities have decided to cancel all exams in the wake of the suicide incident.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University in Haringhata is in controversy again. An M.Tech student jumped from the fifth floor after being caught cheating. The student died tragically on the spot. She was taken to the primary health center and declared dead by the doctor.
Investigation into the incident revealed that the student was caught cheating during the exam yesterday. The teacher scolded her and withheld her notebook for a while, but after 15 minutes, she was given it back. But after the exam, the student could not be found. Feeling humiliated, the student jumped from the roof of the university’s academic building.
All exams in the university have been canceled today due to the suicide incident. And the college premises are in turmoil over this incident. After the incident, students are protesting by closing the college gates.
MAKAUT: Students started protesting on Monday afternoon after the death of first-year M.Tech student Sayani Sen. On Tuesday morning, the students continued their protest by keeping the gates closed. The students alleged that there is no 24-hour ambulance service at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.
The university’s interim vice-chancellor Tapas Chakraborty also opened up about the student’s death. He said that all the university’s exams have been canceled on Tuesday. Efforts are being made to discuss with the students. The situation will be assessed. If necessary, all the exams scheduled for next Wednesday may also be postponed for the time being.

Sayani Sen is a first-year M.Tech (VLSI) student of MAKAUT. She hails from Durgapur and used to study here with her mother. Her classmates alleged that a teacher had ‘humiliated’ Sayani during the exam. Sayani was not found for quite some time after the exam. Later, she was found lying in a bloody state behind the academic building.
Immediate efforts were made to rescue her and take her to the hospital, but they failed. It was seen that there was an ambulance but no driver. He was practically forced to take him to Haringhata Primary Health Center in a critical condition after the incident. There, the doctors declared him dead. And then a massive protest started in the college premises. Meanwhile, the registrar and interim vice-chancellor are trying to negotiate with the students on behalf of the university authorities. The students are demanding that the university take responsibility for Sayni’s death.
Earlier, the ‘classroom marriage’ controversy was created in this MAKAUT. The pictures of this wedding ceremony at the Haringhata campus of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology or MAKAUT, created a storm on social media.
In the video, it was seen that the teacher and the student are having auspicious wishes with betel leaves. Everyone is standing next to them. It is like a wedding. Both of them have wedding garlands around their necks. The teacher is wearing a Banarasi saree and the student is wearing a green hoodie. Both are wearing ordinary clothes. Even the vermilion is omitted! In the face of controversy, the teacher claimed that it was not a marriage, it was all a script for a play.
