Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announces ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’: ₹2,500 for Women, ₹5,100 Crore Allocated | International Women’s Day Initiative

The Delhi government on Saturday approved the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana‘ to provide ₹2,500 to women. The government has allocated Rs 5,100 crore for its implementation.

The Delhi government approved the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana in a cabinet meeting on Saturday. On International Women’s Day, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fulfilled the promise to provide ₹2,500 to eligible women.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “Today is Women’s Day. We had our cabinet meeting today, and our cabinet has approved the scheme – the promise that we made during the Delhi elections to provide ₹2500 to the women.”

“We made a provision of ₹5100 crores in the Delhi budget for the implementation of the scheme. We have formed the committee, which will be led by me and the registration for the scheme will begin soon – a portal will be launched soon,” she said.

A portal will be launched and the registration for the scheme will start soon, Gupta said. The scheme applies to women who are residents of Delhi, aged between 18 to 60 years, and registered voters in the city.

A committee of 3 ministers – Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood and Pravesh Verma has been formed to decide the criteria and other things of this scheme.

Eligibility criteria for Delhi’s Mahila Samriddhi scheme

To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Women aged between 18 to 60 years.
  • Employment status: Must not hold any government job.
  • Financial assistance: Should not be receiving any other financial aid from the government.
  • Household income: Women whose household income is less than ₹3 lakh per year, and applicants should not be taxpayers.

The BJP defeated the AAP in the February 5 elections. The saffron party won 48 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly and return to power in Delhi after a gap of more than 26 years. The AAP won the remaining 22 seats , while the Congress failed to open its account.
