Asus Zenbook A14 with Snapdragon X Elite: A MacBook Air Challenger?

Asus has launched the Zenbook A14, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processor. With its ultra-lightweight design and long battery life, the Zenbook A14 positions itself as a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Air, bringing Windows laptops closer to Apple Silicon performance.

It’s a traditional notebook that’s so light (it almost feels weightless) that it functions like a smartphone with long battery life. At just 980 grams, it feels almost unreal, even lighter than my M2 MacBook Air.

Design and build quality

ZenBook is a 14-in-law that features a general-prolonged laptop that meets average users-especially attached and mobile users who always wanted these qualities on Windows device but never found them. You are a student who is traveling for a long distance for school/college, a busy material creator, who only make regular Joe presentations or Excel sheets on the way to work – when you carry the weight of this laptop on your back or even for a long time you will just feel the weight of this laptop.

Display

The device features a 14-inch Lumina OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1200. With a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, 600 nits of peak brightness, and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour coverage, it can output vibrant visuals. It also supports DisplayHDR 600 True Black for deeper contrasts.

Memory and Storage

The laptop is equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 8448MHz. For storage, it includes a 512GB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 SSD. 

Connectivity and Ports

 It supports tri-band Wi-Fi 7 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.4, along with an alternative Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 option. The laptop offers multiple ports, including two USB4 Type-C ports with full-range charging (5–20V), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, a standard HDMI 2.1 (TMDS) port, and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.

Camera and Audio

The laptop features an ASUS AI-enhanced FHD camera and comes with a Dolby Atmos sound system with built-in array microphones.

Battery and Power

The laptop houses a 70Wh lithium-polymer battery and supports fast charging through either a 90W or 65W Type-C adapter.

Performance and Battery Life

The Zenbook A14 is available in two configurations. The UX3407QA variant, equipped with the Snapdragon X processor, is priced at Rs 99,990, while the UX3407RA model, featuring the more powerful Snapdragon X Elite, costs Rs 1,29,990. These options provide flexibility for users prioritizing performance or affordability.

AI-Powered Features

The Zenbook A14 is a Copilot+ PC, meaning it comes with Windows 11 ARM and AI-powered features like Live Captions, Cocreator in Paint, and Restyle Image bring performance efficiency closer to Apple’s M3, though the newly introduced M4 chip may push Apple’s lead further.

Asus departs from traditional laptop aesthetics by incorporating a soft-touch finish across the lid, keyboard deck, and underside.an ultra lightweight design (tips the scales at 980 grams; reminder of the ‘ultrabook’ era from many years ago, and close to 20 hours of battery runtime which brings it in the same ballpark as an M3 powered MacBook Air.
