Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and 17 others have been booked under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

Bengaluru: A case was registered against Infosys co-founder Chris Gopalakrishnan and 17 others have been booked under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The allegation was made by Durgappa, a former faculty member of IISc’s Centre for Continuing Technology. He said that in 2014, he was implicated in a honey trap case, following which he was dismissed from his job. Durgappa also alleged that he was subjected to caste-based harassment and death threats.

The case has been registered at Bengaluru’s Sadashiv Nagar police station based on the directions of the 71st city civil and session court (CCH), news agency PTI quoted police as saying.
The case was filed on the basis of a complaint by a person, Durgappa belongs to the tribal Bovi community, who alleged that he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case and subsequently dismissed from his job at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), where Kris Gopalakrishnan serves as a member of the board of trustees.
The other individuals accused in this case include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan. So far, there has been no formal response from Chris Gopalakrishnan or the other accused.

Who is Kris Gopalakrishnan?
Chris Gopalakrishnan is a prominent face of the Indian IT industry. He founded Infosys in 1981 along with Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani and four other associates. He was the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys from 2007 to 2011, while he held the position of Vice Chairman from 2011 to 2014. Gopalakrishnan is currently the President of the startup accelerator “Accelerator Ventures”. He is also known as “Senior Chris” in the industry.
In January 2011, the government of India awarded Gopalakrishnan the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian honor.

Education and early life
Chris Gopalakrishnan was born on 5 April 1955 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He completed his primary education from Thiruvananthapuram and then completed his bachelor’s degree in physics and master’s degree in computer science from IIT Madras. He started his career as a software engineer at Patni Computer Systems in 1979. Kris is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE) and an Honorary Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) of India, his LinkedIn profile profile says.
