Maha Kumbh: President Droupadi Murmu takes holy dip at Maha Kumbh in Triveni Sangam

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Prayagraj on Monday and took a holy dip in the Sangam. She also performed Pooja at Akshayvat and the Hanuman Mandir. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which started on January 13, will conclude on February 26 on Mahashivaratri.


On Monday, President Draupadi Murmu reached the holy land of Tirtharaj and took a holy dip in the Sangam. Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel and chief minister Yogi Adityanath also accompanied president Murmu to the Sangam. She will also offer prayers at the Bade Hanuman Temple and Akshayavat tree, considered a symbol of immortality in Hinduism.

“During her day-long visit to Prayagraj, the President will take holy dip and perform Pooja at Sangam, perform Pooja and Darshan at Akshayvat and Hanuman Mandir, and also visit the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement issued on Sunday.


Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will accompany the President to the Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple, the Rashtrapati Bhavan had said. Security has been beefed up in Prayagraj ahead of the President’s visit. Today, she will be in the Sangam city for more than eight hours. The country’s first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad, had also taken a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh.

Just last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the Maha Kumbh Mela and taken a holy dip in the Sangam.
