Rekha Gupta is the Delhi’s new Chief Minister. She will take oath the Delhi CM in a grand oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 20.

Delhi’s new Chief Minister Oath ceremony:

The BJP central leadership on Wednesday chose Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Gupta as the new Chief Minister of Delhi! The new cabinet members, including Rekha, will take oath at Ramlila Maidan at 12 noon today. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena will administer the oath of office to Rekha and other ministers.

More than 25,000 security personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed across the national capital for Thursday’s oath ceremony of the new chief minister at Ramlila Maidan, a Delhi Police officer said. The ceremony is likely to be attended by top party leaders, including chief ministers from BJP-governed states.

“We have deployed more than 25,000 police personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces,” the officer said and added “robust” security arrangements were in place to maintain law and order.

“More than 5,000 police and paramilitary force personnel are deployed in and around Ramlila Maidan. Around 2,500 strategic points were identified where heavy deployment has already been made,” he added.


Delhi’s new Chief Minister: The BJP, which returned to power in the national capital after 26 years, has planned a grand event at the iconic Ramlila Maidan. In the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP won 48 of the 70 seats, while the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party won 22. The Congress failed to open its account for the third time in a row.

Rekha Gupta’s elevation as the chief minister ends the 10-year rule of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party. Gupta was elected leader of the house in the Delhi Assembly after a meeting of the BJP’s legislature party.

Speaking to PTI, Delhi CM-designate Rekha Gupta said, “There is only one priority: the commitments we have made to Delhi, the dream PM Modi has for Delhi, fulfilling it is my first and foremost priority.”

She will be sworn in as Delhi’s fourth woman chief minister, succeeding Atishi. She will have a six-member council – Manjinder Sirsa, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Ravinder Singh Indraj, Kapil Mishra and Parvesh Verma.

“Many congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi. I hope she will fulfil all the promises made to the people of Delhi. We will support her in every effort for the development and welfare of the people of Delhi,” Kejriwal said.

“I want to tell the new CM that AAP will always stand with her for the development of Delhi. It’s good news that a woman is going to lead a state. At present, barring Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, no woman is a chief minister. I also hope that Rekha Gupta will soon fulfil the BJP’s promise of providing Rs 2,500 to women,” Atishi said.
“It feels great that a woman has got a chance to become the chief minister… I want to congratulate Rekha Gupta and I believe that if a woman from any party moves forward, then the entire society moves forward.,” said Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC.

Invited Guest for Delhi CM Oath Ceremony Today

The grand ceremony is scheduled to start around 11.00 a.m.
Former Delhi CM Atishi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are among those invited to the swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan.
More than 50 film stars and industrialists, will be present. Diplomats of major countries have also been invited.

The spiritual leaders of the country will be represented by Baba Ramdev, Swami Chidananda, Baba Bageshwar Dhirendra Shastri and other religious figures.
Among the common people will be farmers of Delhi, and beneficiaries of central government schemes including laadli behen, and common people will also be invited to the ceremony.
