Written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti with music by National Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad, the film has received immense appreciation. This love-action drama, inspired by real-life events from Srikakulam, where a fisherman from Andhra Pradesh and his companions accidentally drift into Pakistani waters and are imprisoned in Karachi. The film showcases their harrowing ordeal, including brutal torture and the struggle to survive without proper food and clothing.
Thandel story: Raju (Naga chaitanya) is a fisherman living in Andhra Pradesh. Raju and his bujji thalli (loved one) Satya (Pallavi), are childhood sweethearts who dream of a future together. Raju becomes Thandel (leader of the fishing boat) and ventures into the sea for several months. An apprehensive Satya asks Raju to stop fishing and lookout for a job on land. Their love story takes a dramatic turn when raju and his fellow fisherman venture beyond Indian territorial waters from a port in Gujrat. Their journey leads to their capture by Pakistani coast guard.
