Eight people were killed in maharashtra’s jalgoan district. The incident took place after rumours of a fire on the Pushpak Express spread, causing panic among passengers. Several passengers tried to escape the train by pulling the emergency chain and getting off the train.

Atleast 11 people died and several were injured in the Pushpak Express train accident in Jalgram, Maharashtra. This information may also increase the number of deaths. This incident happen when a rumours of a fire on the pushpak express spread.

The incident occurred after the pushpak express came to an unscheduled halt around 5 pm when someone pulled the chain due to rumour of fire. Unaware of the danger, they were struck by the Karnataka Express.

The accident took place between Maheji and Pardhade stations near Pachora, more than 400 km from the Mumbai.

Visuals from the accident spot showed a few bodies and severed body parts. “Our preliminary information is that there were sparks and smoke inside one of the general coaches of Pushpak Express due to either hot axle' or brake-binding’ (jamming), and some passengers panicked. They pulled the chain, and some of them jumped down. At the same time, Karnataka Express was passing,” a senior railway official told PTI.

“The train had stopped, after which some passengers from a coach stepped out. Meanwhile, Karnataka Express, going in the opposite direction, was passing through the next track,” Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Kumar Leela said in a video statement.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying: “The tragic incident near Pachora in Jalgaon district is deeply distressing. I pay my heartfelt tributes to the deceased.”

“My colleague, Minister Girish Mahajan, and the Superintendent of Police have reached the site, and the District Collector will arrive shortly. The entire district administration is working in coordination with the railway administration, and immediate arrangements are being made for the treatment of the injured,” Fadnavis said in a post in Marathi.
“senior official are reaching the spot, after which more information will be available,” said Maharashtra minister Gulabrao Patil.
