There is a cabinet meeting before that. That meeting will be held at Mamata Banerjee‘s house in the assembly. The budget will be presented after the meeting.
This is the last full budget of Mamata Banerjee‘s government before the 26th elections. The 26th assembly elections will be held as soon as the year rolls around. It is practically clear that this budget will be presented this time.
What is the new announcement in the WB budget this time? The eyes of the whole of Bengal are on the Bengal assembly today. It is heard that the wb budget will be pro-people this time.

Expectations are growing among government employees regarding DA. The central government has announced the Eighth Pay Commission. Its recommendations are scheduled to be implemented from January 1, 2026. But the 6th Pay Commission is still going on in West Bengal.
Usually, the Central and State governments form pay commissions every 10 years. The salary increase of employees is determined according to the price of goods and inflation. The 6th Pay Commission was held in West Bengal in November 2015. That was the end. After that, almost 10 years went by.
In the last fiscal year’s budget (2024-25), Minister of State with Independent Charge of the Finance Department Chandrima Bhattacharya announced 4% DA. The state had started giving DA at the rate of 4% from January before that. As a result, the employees saw some hope as DA was announced twice in the same year (a total of 8%). However, the government has not announced DA so far this year. In the meantime, the Center has given DA to its employees, and the gap between central government employees and state employees has increased by 39 percentage points (state’s DA is 14% and the center’s is 53%).
This time, attention can be paid to a few special areas. And that is rural development. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the people of the villages voted for Mamata Banerjee with both hands. Especially women. As a result, it is said that a large allocation may be made in the WB budget considering the development of the villages. At the same time, there are also reports that a large allocation may be made in this year’s budget for Lakshmi Bhandar. So that all the women of Bengal get this benefit. Now let’s see if this is Mamata’s government’s budget this time.
